Handgun licence procedure
Applying for a PPL ( Provisional Pistol Licence) “H” Licence safe handling courses are available by contacting the club direct.
Requirements are initial safe handling presentation including firing of pistol , a further 2 visits in the following 30 days , again demonstrating safe handling and following of range orders . and a final assesment demonstrating safe handling practice . A safe handling certificate is supplied with application for club membership . As per Firearms registry NSW Police requirements
Interested in Joining the Sport ?
Many people join us through friends who are already members, but you can join us simply because you are interested in the sport or are looking for a new fun, and exciting sport. Anyone is welcome to come and visit us.
Pistol shooting is an Olympic sport and one of the few sports that age is not a barrier. Our Club is predominatley ISSF ( Olympic type shooting)
However as many members also shoot rifle The Club also Offers Target rifle shooting and is an approved Target sghooting club as a requirement for firearms licensing and ownership

Are You Eligible ?
There are eligibility requirements that all persons must meet before they can participate. These requirements are mandated through firearms legislation and regulation and are monitored by the NSW Police.
To participate in anywhere within NSW you must be over 12 years of age and be able to answer NO to ALL of the questions below.
- Within the last 10 years been the subject of a Family Law or Domestic Violence Order or an Apprehended Violence Order (other than an order that was revoked)?
- Been refused or prohibited from holding a firearms licence or permit or had a firearms licence or permit suspended, cancelled or revoked?
- Currently, suffering from any mental illness or other disorder that may prevent you from using a firearm safely?
- Within the last 10 years been convicted of an offence involving firearms, weapons, prohibited drugs, robbery, violence, terrorism or an offence of a sexual nature? Or have a conviction pending
- Been the subject of a Firearms Prohibition Order?
- Ever attempted suicide or self-harm?
- Currently subject to a Good Behaviour Bond?
- Currently subject to an Interim Apprehended Violence Order?
- In the past 12 months been treated or referred for treatment for alcoholism, drug dependence or a mental illness within the meaning of the Mental Health Act 2007 or as a mentally disordered person within the meaning of that Act?
On The Day
Contact the club for an introduction to the sport
You will start the day by completing the NSW Police Declaration – Person shooting on an Approved Range or undertaking a Firearms Safety Training Course form.P650_Declaration_Oct 2025 . After this you will watch a short introductory video on shooting and the safety requirements before completing this written Safety Exam and Assessment.
You will be required to show Photo Identification on the day or original Birth Certificate for minors. Please note that Guardians will also be required to show Photo ID even if they are not participating.
