On the range
What you can shoot here
Every round fired here meets all four. The same for rifle as for pistol, members and visitors alike.
Subsonic
Nothing above the speed of sound.
Lead, not jacketed
Cast lead only. No jacketed ammunition.
No larger than .38
.38 Special and .357 are fine, loaded to subsonic target levels.
A pistol cartridge
A round that can be fired in a pistol.
Subsonic .22 rimfire, and rifles chambered for the cartridges our pistol shooters use. It is the load that counts, not the headstamp. No magnum loads, and no high-velocity hunting ammunition.
Our range approval caps calibre at .38.
Check the box yourself before you buy. We regularly see shooters arrive with jacketed or magnum ammunition because the shop said it would be fine. A gun shop has no way of knowing what our range approval allows, and once ammunition is bought it cannot go back. If you are not certain, ring us before you spend the money.

SSAA members are welcome
A SSAA Attendance Book is available
You do not have to join to shoot here. SSAA members are welcome as visitors — pay the range fee on the day, bring your rifle, and shoot.
The SSAA attendance book is at the clubhouse.
The ammunition rules above apply to visitors too.
Visitors shoot the match that is on, with our members. Call the Secretary before a first visit — how visiting works.
Licensing
Do you need to belong to a club?
It depends on the genuine reason your licence rests on.
If that reason is target shooting, yes — and the club must be approved for the firearm you hold. We are approved for A, B, H and G.
Other genuine reasons work differently. The Firearms Registry sets those.

Practice more than competition
Rifle shooting at CLDPC is mostly practice and training — putting rounds down range, sighting a rifle in, working on a position.
Two club matches run each month, scoped and unscoped. Neither is aligned to a particular discipline, and the course of fire often changes from month to month.
Dates are on the club calendar. Members are welcome on the range outside match days.
A, B, H and G
One club, every category
Most clubs are approved for one category, or two. We hold four.
Take up rifle now and shoot Olympic pistol in two years, on ranges built for it, without changing clubs. A household with different interests belongs to one club, not three. And the collectors group is here for the firearms that never get shot at all.
Category B
Black powder
Muzzle-loading firearms are Category B, and they are shot here. Thirteen shots, thirty minutes, and a cloud of smoke after every one.
The same sport, with the technology of a century and a half ago.
