Licensed rifle and pistol shooters are welcome. If you have not shot here before, call the Secretary first.
Who can shoot here
A target shooting club, not a commercial range
Visiting shooters are a normal part of club life here, and we are glad to have them.
We are an ISSF target pistol club and we take the art of shooting seriously. ISSF pistol shooters are welcome on the line with our members, and so are rifle shooters wanting to put in some practice or sight a rifle in — whatever club you belong to, and wherever in the country you have travelled from. Plenty of our own members first came here as someone’s guest.
None of that is meant to shut the door on anyone. IPSC and action pistol shooters are welcome people; we simply do not have the facilities for them. Our range approval does not cover that sort of match and the bays are not laid out for it, so you would have a far better day somewhere built for it.
Bring your licence. Licences are checked before anyone shoots, every time and for everyone, members included — nobody takes it personally. There is a range fee, payable on the day.
If you have not shot with us before, give the Secretary a call before you come. It is not a formality. We would far rather spend two minutes on the phone than have you drive out and find the ranges tied up with a match you cannot join. A call tells us who to expect, and tells you what is on, what you would be shooting, and whether we can fit you in.
Come on a shooting day and you will usually find someone glad to show you around.
On the range
What you can shoot here
Every round fired here meets all four. The same for rifle as for pistol, visitors and members alike.
Subsonic
Nothing above the speed of sound.
Lead, not jacketed
Cast lead only. No jacketed ammunition.
No larger than .38
.38 Special and .357 are fine, loaded to subsonic target levels.
A pistol cartridge
A round that can be fired in a pistol.
It is the load that counts, not the headstamp. No magnum loads, and no high-velocity hunting ammunition.
Our range approval caps calibre at .38.
Check the box yourself before you buy. We regularly see shooters arrive with jacketed or magnum ammunition because the shop said it would be fine. A gun shop has no way of knowing what our range approval allows, and ammunition can be difficult to return once it is bought. If you are not certain, ring us before you spend the money.

On the day
You will shoot a match with us
Our members come here to shoot competitions, and as a visitor you will shoot one alongside them.
There is usually a match running on most of the ranges. You join whichever one is on and shoot it with our members, which is a good deal more interesting than a lane to yourself — and the quickest way to meet people.
We are a club rather than a commercial range, so there are no bays to book by the hour. Everyone on the line is shooting the same match, members and visitors alike.
The club calendar shows what is running and when. If in doubt, give us a call.
If you shoot here often
Joining
We are approved for Categories A, B, H and G, so one membership covers rifle, pistol and collecting.
Members book the ranges and shoot the club matches.
