Annual fixtures

The memorial matches

These matches commemorate members who contributed significantly to the club over the years. Some have been running for more than half a century.

Badcoe Memorial Team Shoot

A Centrefire teams match held each February in memory of Major Peter Badcoe VC, a past member of the club. Instituted when the Kentlyn range was completed, it was the first graded club teams match ever run and remains one of the longest-running team events in the country. It has been shot every year since 1969.

CLDPC Memorial Competition

Run over a weekend each October and sanctioned by Pistol Australia, this competition honours three members who shaped the club and were known well beyond it. Each has a match named for them. There is a supported rest category as well, so senior and veteran shooters can keep competing.

“The Kathy”

Kathy Renfrey — 25m Sports Pistol

Secretary of CLDPC for many years and well known right across the shooting community. She was instrumental in leading the club out of the wilderness.

“The Wally”

Wally Wright — Centrefire

Larger than life, and remembered by everyone who shot with him for his catchcry. The match still carries it: the Wally Wright “Hey Fella” Memorial.

“The Davo”

John Davidson — 25m Black Powder

A character, widely known in the pistol shooting community. When he died, his ashes were fired from a cannon across the range.

The club also runs a Ladies Social Match in April, and each May hosts the Cancer Council’s Biggest Morning Tea alongside the CMPC 50m and Standard Pistol championships.

Juniors

Junior shooters welcome

Competition gives juniors the chance to develop their skills, meet other shooters and enjoy being part of the sport. We welcome enquiries from junior shooters and their families about suitable events at CLDPC.

Speak with the club about getting involved.
